Fair Champion/Grand Champion

Congratulations to two of my advanced students, Madelynn Mamer and Kendall Shields, who won Champion and Grand Champion for their paintings! All of the students did such a great job! :)

Almost March...

have lots of updates to give today!

As we wrap up the month of Febuary, we will begin working on Junior Duck Stamp Competion peices. This is a competion in which students submit a painting or drawing of one of the many California waterfowl species. For farther information and a list of species, see the the contest's website at http://www.fws.gov/juniorduck/

On a second note, the new easels are here! Thanks to all the generous donors who sponsored an easel.
Two of the many new easels.

I would also like to let you all know about the first Brawley Art Walk, which will be on March 6th. The Art Walk is a town  event that will showcase some of the Valley's art culture, including live music, painting, food, and shopping. It all starts at the studio, which will be open for the event, and continues on into much of Brawley's new designated arts district.

Lastly, I have gotten everything down to the fair (which starts today), so if you go, be sure to stop by the Inspiration Barn to check out all of the art!

Have a great weekend!

It's Crunch Time

Hi, everyone! It's been the equivalent of Santa's workshop during the week of Christmas over here at the studio! All fair entries are due Friday, so we've been finishing up tons of loose ends.

On a side note, the clocks that I posted last week are now all painted and mostly finished. Soon the mechanisms will be installed, and the clocks will be ready for fair as well!

Here are some pics of works in progress and other fair peices. Many (Not all) of these will be printed into cards after the fair is over, so, if you are interested in pre-ordering some, let us know!

New Chairs and A New Project

Hello, everyone! Hope that you all had a wonderful week and are enjoying the weekend!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who sponsored a chair or an easel. Your generous donations will be enjoyed by many students!

This is what the new chairs look like. Personalized plates will be placed on the back of each chair once they are made. Easels should arrive later in the month. I will keep you updated!

We will be starting in our new project, these clocks, next week. They should be ready in time for the fair.

Oh- and DS Arts is now on Facebook! Like us to receive updates from the blog and pictures of the studio, new projects, finished peices, and works in progress.
